Lord, we live in a world that will not wait.
We live in a world of demand:
…demanding our attention, our time;
…demanding our money, our love.
And it makes us demanding:
that our wants must be met – now
that what is broken must be fixed – now.
Your Word implores us to act when it is right.
But it teaches us, also, to wait.
Living in this world, that is hard, Lord;
When we must wait for an answer…
Wait for direction, for purpose,
Wait for an opportunity,
Wait for relationship, for love,
Wait for wellness,
Wait for joy.
Lord, please help us when we find ourselves in seasons of waiting.
Reveal to us its treasure;
That, though we may tremble, a season of waiting brings precious opportunity
To draw closer to You,
To discover Your rest and peace,
To really learn that it is Jesus who is our reward,
To experience the depth of Your love for us;
That, to you, we are the beloved.
Father, You know each of us so well.
And it is because of Your goodness that Your hand is at work in our lives.
Today we pray encouragement for those who wait.
May they, the beloved, we, the beloved, hear Your singing over us.
In the beautiful name of Jesus we pray.
I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
